ITSAZOO and Pacific Theatre are seeking two people certified in Mental Health First Aid to act as Mental Health Attendants for our upcoming production of Meeting by Katherine Guathier at Pacific Theatre from May 14, 2025 — June 7, 2025
This role is intended to support audience members who may find the content of the show intense or activating, and need a bit of extra support or a way to access further resources if needed. This role is NOT intended to provide therapy on-the-spot! The exact scope of the role is still somewhat in development but will be clearly laid out before work begins.
Interested applicants should be certified in MHFA in the past 12 months, or have a registration to be certified before May 14, 2025. If you’re interested but need support in finding a good training source, let us know!
The Mental Health Attendant (MHA) role pays $35/hour, with each performance shift lasting 3 hours. MHAs will have a chance to view the show in advance during our tech week. The MHA may be asked to participate in the pre-show speech to identify themselves as a support person to the audience – this will be scripted in advance and doesn’t need to be memorized.
If you are interested, please email paige@itsazoo.org with a resume or summary of relevant experience, and a brief explanation of what interests you about the role. Questions are very welcome!
Content advisory for the show: Recommended for audiences 19+.
Explicit discussions about sex, sexual behaviour, childhood sexual abuse and trauma. No abuse is depicted onstage, though a character experiences an intense resurgence of a traumatic memory of abuse. This show is an intense, immersive experience.
