ITSA-Fundraiser for Sunrise Betties
We’re embarking on this big, bold, bloody show and we need you to make it a reality!
This February, ITSAZOO is returning to our bad @$$, scrappy roots with Sunrise Betties, Cheyenne Rouleau’s hilariously subversive crime thriller. Set in East Vancouver, 1972, this work of historical fiction follows an all-female street gang forced to scramble for survival when they accidentally start a turf war with a prominent mobster.
Sunrise Betties is inspired by the street gang crisis of the era and the infamous Clark Park Gang – a sordid part of Vancouver’s history few know about. It explores the origins of drug trafficking and police corruption in the once notorious – and rapidly gentrifying – area. Sunrise Betties will be coming to you via the Russian Hall basement, February 23rd to March 10th, 2024.
68% of our streamlined budget is going directly to paying artists for their time, and we’re delighted to be able to create these opportunities for our team.
Here’s how a tax-receiptable donation from you can help:
$10 pays for a bottle of hairspray (for that voluminous 70s hair!)
$25 pays for an hour of an actor’s time (yay, a living wage!)
$50 pays for a stack of used vinyl records for our set (some of which will be played live!)
$100 pays for our Fake Blood budget (approximately 8 litres!)
$250 pays for our Elite Cat Tower (this will make sense when you see the show…)
$1000 pays for our fight choreographer (who worked on previous ITSAZOO hits like Killer Joe, The Competition is Fierce, Hidden and Wet!)
You can donate via CanadaHelps OR mail us a cheque.
And if you have the resources and would like to support our work on a regular basis, consider becoming a monthly donor via CanadaHelps. For as little as $5/month you can help us keep the lights on and support the ongoing creation of dynamic, immersive shows for daring audiences like yourself!
