A note on self-identifying and privacy: ITSAZOO’s creative team knows from personal experience that it can feel weird to share personal information like gender identity or sexual orientation when submitting for an audition. So here’s our take: feel free to share those things or self-identify if you feel it connects you to one of the characters we’ve listed, and know that we will only share your info within our casting team. We are also happy to hear about any barriers you might have when it comes to fully participating in an audition, and will not use that information to exclude you from consideration.
ITSAZOO hopes to receive applications from candidates with a broad range of backgrounds including, but not limited to: race, ethnicity, indigeneity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, class and physical ability.
Auditions will take place in a physically accessible location at the Chalmers Heritage Building – 1440 West 12th Ave, Vancouver BC.

About the Play:
Welcome to Co-Dependents and Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous. In an empty church activity room, five people share their stories and try to connect in the face of stigma, intersecting trauma, and wildly disparate experiences. When a participant expresses an unanticipated desire, the group must evaluate the limits of their tolerance, trust, and acceptance.
The audience joins the Meeting in real time, staged in the Chalmers activity room at Pacific Theatre. This space is accessible to those using mobility devices, including wheelchairs.
This up-close exploration of community care surprises at every turn, revealing vulnerable people grasping for meaning in their lives and relationships. Is restorative justice possible?
Intimacy/Mental Health Notice:
No intimacy will be required or depicted during auditions.
The play includes discussion of sex, sexuality, and sexual abuse of a minor. No abuse is depicted onstage. This is a 19+ show that will be supported by an intimacy director and/or mental health coordinator. For any specific content inquiries, email auditions@itsazoo.org.
