About the Play:
This is the Western premiere of this new Canadian play. Wet is an award-winning In-Yer-Face play set during the height of Canada’s involvement in the Afghanistan War. A soldier returns home from combat after suffering a head injury. Her husband is forced to become her caregiver while she struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He tries to unravel the mystery of what exactly happened to her overseas. She finds herself abandoned by the country she served, in a near catatonic state, and physically immobile. She’s left to languish in poverty in a basement suite with her unemployed and intimacy-starved husband and their infant child. Tension escalates when a former war comrade shows up unwelcomed and unhinged. We will be performing the play site-specifically in a basement suite so it will be intimate.
WARNING: this play contains graphic sexuality, nudity, disturbing imagery and violence. Please only submit if you are comfortable with this.
Character Breakdown:
SWEETIE is 28. A father. A pendulum. At home with his baby while his wife goes to war. A history of mental illness. Honest. Kind and gentle. But his desperation brings out the monster within.
